SUBJ: What is a zine?

RE: A zine, short for fanzine or magazine, is a compilation of creative works—usually art and writing.

SUBJ: Does this zine have a theme?

RE: KCHK529:The Fundamentals of Kacchako is set within a college / university setting. Kacchako will be featured as either students, professors, post-docs, a mix—anyone that can be found on campus.

SUBJ: What general aspects should we know about this zine?

RE: Currently, this zine is set to be for-profit with a physical SFW book (rated general to teen) including merch and a digital NSFW PDF (rated mature to explicit) as an additional add-on. This is subject to change and will be updated after the interest check. The zine dimensions will be B5 with around 150-200 pages to compensate for a more writer-heavy format.

SUBJ: Does this zine have an age limit for contributors?

RE: Yes. Due to the nature of the potential content and the possibility of monetary compensation, you must be 18 years of age to apply.

SUBJ: Do I need zine experience to apply?

RE: Not at all, though we do ask that you have strong communication and group project skills. This zine will heavily rely on collaboration work, and you will need to be able to regularly communicate with your team members to make sure you’re all on the same page and the final pieces are cohesive. If you have any questions, please message the mod team through our Retrospring!

SUBJ: How will contributors be compensated?

RE: At the very least, contributors will be guaranteed a PDF copy of the zine. The project will aim to get full bundles including all the merch items and free shipping for every contributor who joins. If the project manages to achieve excess funds, contributors will also receive monetary compensation.

SUBJ: How many contributors are you planning to accept?

RE: These amounts may change based on Interest Check Results and do not include the number of guests invited.

Writers | 10–14

Spot Artists | 5–8
Comic Artists | 3–4

SUBJ: What is acceptable content for this zine?

RE: Below is a rough breakdown of what content this zine will and will not accept.

ENTHUSIASTIC YES

For both the SFW zine and the NSFW add-on, any Kacchako-centric pieces that take place in a college setting where characters are portrayed as 18+ is a must. Age-gap, intimacy, and suggestive / implied sexuality is allowed for both.

NSFW ADD-ON ONLY

The add-on can include explicitly sexual content where characters are portrayed as 18+. A/B/O, light BDSM, and dubious consent turned to consent are only allowed in the add-on.

HARD NO

Unfortunately, dark content will not be allowed for potential printing purposes. We are aware that “dark content” can mean different things for different people. Anything past what is accepted for the NSFW add-on will be considered dark for this zine. If you have any questions about a topic you might want to include in the zine, please reach out to the mod team through Retrospring or our email. If you’re unsure about what’s considered accepted content, message the mod team on Retrospring!

SUBJ: I have a question that isn’t answered here.
